Fine lines and wrinkles can be managed with a range of therapies, from topical creams, in-clinic treatments for skin resurfacing, to injectables.

Often a combination is advisable for best results. Your consultation will discuss all of these options. In the next section, we will focus on injectable treatments.

Muscle Relaxants

About Muscle Relaxants

At times the involuntary contraction of certain muscles can create expressions that don’t match our mood.
We can feel and look healthier when we are relaxed and the same is true for our facial muscles.

By using very small amounts of muscle relaxants it is possible to soften or remove fine lines while maintaining a very natural appearance around the brow, forehead and areas around the eyes.

Botulinum toxin has been used medically for over 30 years and has an incredible safety profile with highly predictable results.

Muscle Relaxants Treatments

All treatments are preceded by a consultation with Dr Baines, involving a thorough assessment and detailed discussion. Allow up to 1 hour for your initial consultation which includes a detailed face and skin analysis, at the end of which you will take away a no-obligation personalised plan. Consultations are £50 which is deductible from the cost any treatments or products purchased. The muscle relaxant is administered by extremely fine injection to muscles in the upper face. Ice is gently applied to the skin, providing a numbing effect which typically takes less than 5 minutes.

Follow-up Review

An improvement in your frown lines should be evident within 3 to 7 days. A follow-up video appointment is made for 3 weeks by which time the effects of the muscle relaxant will be at their full. Occasionally further treatment is offered at this appointment ensuring that the client has achieved the desired effect. No additional charge is made for treatment provided at this stage

Brow

Brow lines are typically vertical, appearing between the eyebrows. They occur with frowning, something that many people do subconsciously whilst talking. Initially these lines only appear whist actively making facial expressions. Over time a crease may develop which is present even when the face is relaxed. Treatment with muscle relaxants or dermal filler can soften and remove lines present now & prevent the development of a crease in the future. An additional effect of this treatment is to lift the inner brow line, resulting in a subtly more fresh and awake appearance.

Eyes

Creases around the eyes, sometimes referred to as laughter-lines or crows feet, can be reproduced by forcibly closing the eye. Lines are initially only present with facial movement but become visible in the relaxed face over time. These can be easily treated with muscle relaxant to achieve softening or removal. Repeated treatments can be used to minimise the development of creases in this area.

Forehead

Forehead lines are horizontal, reproducible by forcibly looking upwards. Initially they are only present with active facial expression but with time remain visible when the face is relaxed. Treatment with muscle relaxant can soften and remove lines present now and minimise the future development creases in this area.

Dermal Fillers

Volumising & Lifting

Whether it’s the softening of a few fine lines or more extensive facial rejuvenation, using dermal fillers and threads it is possible to lift and subtly add volume.

The majority of dermal fillers consist of Hyaluronic Acid (HA).  This is a sugar-based substance found naturally in our skin.

With 1 gram of HA capable of holding up to a litre of water, it is responsible for much of the skin’s hydration and lifting properties.  Unfortunately, our stores of HA diminish with time, but can be replaced by injection.  The process involves using a combination of extremely fine needles or blunt cannulae.

Before and after treatment

The cheek & under-eye areas are the first to show signs of volume loss - visible from our early to mid 30’s.  Looking at photos taken 5-10 years ago, perhaps you may have noticed your cheek volume not quite as full as it once was? Restoring mid-face volume is the most common and natural way to provide lift. Volume is created deeply in the tissues, providing a very natural projection to your skin. Results are immediate with typically no-downtime required.

Nasolabial

Try yourself in the mirror: the effect of treatment can to some extent be mimicked by placing a finger on the cheek bone beneath the eye and lifting the skin gently upwards and outwards until the nasolabial line is softened or removed to the desired amount.

This is the skin crease that runs from the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth. Significant yet subtle results can be easily achieved, creating a fresher look to the face.

Tear Trough / Under Eye

The tear trough is often treated in conjunction with the cheek.

Treatment typically takes 30minutes and last up to 18 months. The effect is to immediately make the eyes look fresher and less tired.

Lower Face, Marionette Lines & Chin

Creases from the edge of the mouth to the chin, sometimes referred to as marionette lines can be easily softened using dermal fillers.

Try for yourself in the mirror: the effect of treatment can to some extent be mimicked by placing a finger outside the skin crease on the cheek above the jaw line, then lifting the skin gently upwards and outwards until the line is removed to the desired amount.

Lips

Dermal fillers can be used very effectively on the lips to achieve a variety of results.  Lip margins can be given more definition or volume can be increased (very small amounts of dermal filler can be used to achieve a fuller look without a producing pouting).

Very fine lines on the edge of the lips, also known as lipstick lines, can also be removed.

Profhilo

- a special type of dermal filler

Profhilo is an injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) specifically aimed at reducing skin laxity.   Rather than targeting a specific area such as the cheek or mouth areas, Profhilo produces a uniform improvement of skin texture all over the face, neck décolletage or wherever else it used.

With one of the highest concentrations of HA on the market, it is not only boosting and hydrating the skin, but also remodels the ageing and sagging tissue.

Unlike some many other skin-boosting treatments, the special properties of Profhilo enable it to migrate along tissue planes, minimizing the number of injections required. The absence of any of any down-time post treatment makes this a highly attractive treatment.

Profhilo delivers great results as a treatment on its own or in combination with other aesthetics treatments.

As the shape of the face is maintained, this subtle treatment is a favourite amongst those looking to try dermal fillers for the first time.

Sunekos

Sunekos works differently to hyaluronic-acid based dermal fillers. Containing a mixture of amino acids, it targets the skin’s extracellular matrix to stimulate new elastin and collagen production.

The result is a very natural strengthening and tightening of the skin without volumization, ideal for very natural results in areas that may be sensitive to water retention associated with other treatments. It can be used anywhere, even on the whole face to give a revitalized glow. It is also excellent for under-eye support where volume isn’t desired. There is usually a minimal downtime of 1 day.

Belotero treatments Taunton

Belotero

'So many magazine photos show celebs with a 'trout pout' - it looks so unnatural!'

It is always advisable to visit a qualified aesthetic practitioner, mastered in the art of using Belotero. Treatment can be tailored to your lip shape, with fullness and definition added subtly for a natural approach, so it is better to go back to your practitioner for a top-up treatment, if needed, rather than have too much product injected during the first visit.
